Did you know? Hemp materials can replace many petroleum-based products (shoes made from TPU plastics, etc.) which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on non-renewable resources.

Many shoes are made from petroleum-based materials:

• ☢ Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA): A type of expanded plastic that is often used for the soles of running shoes
  
• ☢ Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU): A petroleum-based plastic used in traditional footwear
  
• ☢ Croslite foam: A petroleum-derived thermoplastic polymer resin used in most Crocs shoes

Petroleum-based materials are used in shoes because they are lightweight, durable, and water-resistant. However, the use of petroleum in footwear has raised concerns about the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

That's why Foothemp was born:
Our mission is to replace these petroleum-based plastics with bio-based alternatives like hemp (naturally durable and oh, so renewable) so we can use what nature has to offer and protect our planet from emissions and our feet from harmful chemicals.
